About Us

Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) is an exceptionally successful provider of education. Offering a range qualifications across three campuses; Taunton, Bridgwater and Cannington, courses combine real-world experience with academic rigour, which springboard students to Red Brick universities, prestigious companies and exciting careers.

With over 20,000 learners from across the UK, BTC works with stakeholders to support the national skills agenda, courses range from post 16 provision, apprenticeships, adult learning though to distance learning.

BTC has over 3,000 apprentices and 1,500 employers. In 2019 BTC was rated Good with outstanding features by Ofsted and recognised key strengths included leadership and management, personal development, behaviours and welfare, apprenticeships and adult learning provision confirming the college as a leading skills and learning provider.

The University Centre Somerset (UCS) forms part of BTC and provides a pathway into higher education for learners progressing from BTC or for adults looking to retrain and reskill. The ambition for UCS is for it to become the first University in Somerset, supporting the local community and attracting talent nationally.

BTC works with stakeholders that include 1500 employers plus industry specialists, community organisations and awarding bodies to support the national skills agenda. Its innovative, accredited and bespoke training programmes are designed with and for businesses to meet their current and future workforce needs. This is something the College done exceptionally well, leading the field for employer engagement and with a reputation for excellence that has enabled it to recruit, select and train entire new workforces for major companies, both regionally and nationally.

BTC is proud to be an inaugural member of the Chartered Institution for Education, demonstrating excellence in the areas of governance, leadership, professional development, teaching practice and community impact. This is also reflected in the number of prestigious awards held by the College, such as the SEMTA Awards, TES FE Award, City & Guilds Lions Award. TEF Silver Award, an unprecedented 15 Association of Colleges Beacon Awards and two highly prestigious Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education.
