National Highways is the government company charged with operating, maintaining and improving England's motorways and major A roads. Our ambition is to ensure our major roads are more dependable, durable and – most importantly – are safe.
In the South West, our 620 mile network of motorways and strategic A-roads sits at the heart of the region's economic potential.
Set against some of the country’s most stunning scenery with its enchanting areas of outstanding natural beauty, our roads keep people moving.
By maintaining and developing our roads we ensure the region can cope with the 21.4 million extra visitors that flock to the South West each year.
We support industry, helping small and large-scale businesses reach key markets, while providing access to international air and sea ports. We work with developers to keep unlock brownfield sites, and we maintain the two main crossing points to Wales.
We connect people and communities; we connect the South West with the rest of the world.
Across Somerset, we are currently developing schemes to dual sections of the A303 and A358. For more information see www.nationahighways.co.uk/A303-A358-Corridor
