COVID-19 Advice: Furloughed workers, the next steps
In light of Covid-19, Somerset Chamber of Commerce are teaming up with members to deliver essential advice in the form of free online seminars.
Following the last update, there has been additional clarity provided on the Furlough process by the HMRC and government.
With further clarification now issued by the government, we will be advised by Kate Gardner, Partner at Clarke Willmott and Simon Denton, TAX Advisor at Milsted Langdon as to how to proceed with the furlough process and its impact on your business.
Kate will update you on the issues surrounding these new rules. Kate Gardner, partner and head of employment law at Clarke Willmott Taunton will provide fully up to date guidance on the Employment and HR aspects of the Job Retention Scheme. She will provide practical tips to minimise the risk of future employment tribunal claims whilst enabling you and your business to take as full advantage as possible of the Scheme. She will also include advice on the interaction of holiday and sick leave within Furlough periods and detail on who and how you can lawfully 'furlough' your workers
Simon will discuss the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme from a financial, accountancy and payroll perspective, including the HMRC portal and employer tax implications, before looking at other business assistance available. Simon specialises in advising owner managed businesses on minimising their total tax liabilities. Simon?s experience in both general accounting and tax enables him to focus in on the commercial objectives for the client meaning that they are offered pragmatic solutions that are both cost effective and tailored to their specific needs from the point of view of the business and of the stakeholder. His approach is valued by clients because he concentrates on the owner-manager?s need for solutions which minimise the ongoing tax liabilities of the business whilst ensuring that the capital value of the business is able to grow tax efficiently.
Welcoming questions from participants this session will be interactive. By the end of the webinar you will hopefully be more familiar on what the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme means for your business.
This is a free call, so register now and we'll send the link to access the conference. If you have further questions following the call, both are happy to offer 1-2-1 support and advice.
