Our 2-day MHFA course is a recognised qualification. Giving you certification to practice within the role for 3 years.
Across the 2 days you will delve into and learn about what mental health is and get a deep understanding of how this differs for each one of us and the impact and implications of this.
We will look at stress, self-care, risk factors and how to protect ourselves from these, depression, suicide, the most common anxiety disorders, various eating disorders, bipolar, self-injury, and psychosis (including schizophrenia).
We will look at and discuss specifically the support we can give if we spot the signs or symptoms of any one of these disorders or illnesses, what to say and what to do and how to give ongoing support to the person along with other important and helpful advice.
We will look at case studies around some of the disorders that we are covering and hear from 3 people in their own lived experience videos to gain an understanding of their personal experiences with mental illness.
We will look at the role of a mental health first aider, how to protect yourself and boundaries, along with the workplace implementation of the role – which we will continue to support you with after the course is complete.
