Hi, I'm a sole trader and I've been lucky enough to work with amazing organisations doing a whole range of things that have helped them to work smarter, save money, be more profitable and ensure they have happy people coming through the doors each morning. That's employees and customers.
Doing things smarter is a continuous journey, learning every day and listening to those around you; colleagues, customers, suppliers and more. So you can grow together.
That's why over the last 25 years or so, I've also mentored many people. Being asked to help mentor the next generation in whatever way they go on to employment is humbling and very exciting too.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending it with lacqure dusted with gold. It literally means 'joined with gold'. In doing so the break is embellished and becomes part of the beautiful history or the piece of pottery.
Businesses have been through, and continue to through challenging times. They have learnt that whatever life throws at them, they can thrive...... and there is no shame in showing your breaks and scars. Quite the reverse. You could call it the original Agile thinking. Recognising that if you don't get it right the first time, there is always an opportunity to learn and apply that learning in the future.
Leading change can be scary and I've often found that being that leader can be one of the loneliest seats in an organisation. But it doesn't have to be.
Through data driven, purposeful change, and stakeholder engagement an organisation and its people thrive..... it's really as simple as that. Learning from the hiccups of the past, amplifying the greatness that already exists and driving that change collaboratively really does deliver awesome results.
I'm sector agnostic and have worked in the Care Sector, with Charities, in Construction, Engineering, Financial Services, Pharma, Retail, Telecoms, Transport and Utilities, to name a few.
